OUR
HOME
SCOSAG is located in a nationally recognized historic
landmark, The South Gate Lodge of Tower
Grove Park. Built in 1888, this cozy “cottage
castle” has seen 118 years of history pass through
its doors. In the past, it has been living quarters
for grounds keepers. More recently, for twenty-five
years, it was the park office; and for the past two
years it has been home to many young artists and their
mentors. The
South Gate Lodge offers countless discoveries as
visitors peruse its interior and exterior decorative
architecture and antique fixtures – not to mention
all the art!
In addition to Arts programming at SCOSAG, Tower Grove
Park provides our students and parents with other valuable
resources. Families can “make a day” of
it when they visit Tower Grove Park, gaining knowledge
of nature and history. The park is home to over 300
varieties of trees and shrubs, as well as historic sculptures
and architecture. Parents awaiting their young artists
in the studio, can utilize the many trails and walking
paths that wander throughout the park.
