We Make Art in Tower Grove Park.
You can too!
A DIVERSE, GROWING SPACE
Since 2002 SCOSAG has provided thousands of hours of hands-on artistic education in the form of curriculum based classes, summer, winter, and spring break camps, drop-in open studio hours, adult classes, and community events at its headquarters in Tower Grove Park. Since 2005, SCOSAG has maintained a second studio in Forest Park Southeast, The Potter's Workshop. Countless hours of tuition-free programming has been provided to students living in this at-risk neighborhood. This space has also has been open to workshops and adult programming, including a senior citizen program.
OUR HOME
SCOSAG is located in a nationally recognized historic
landmark, The South Gate Lodge of Tower
Grove Park. Built in 1888, this cozy “cottage
castle” has seen 118 years of history pass through
its doors. In the past, it has been living quarters
for grounds keepers. More recently, for twenty-five
years, it was the park office; and for the past two
years it has been home to many young artists and their
mentors. The
South Gate Lodge offers countless discoveries as
visitors peruse its interior and exterior decorative
architecture and antique fixtures – not to mention
all the art!
It is the Mission of The South City Open Studio and
Gallery for Children to provide a safe and educational
environment for children to explore the Arts and also
to strengthen the ties within the St. Louis neighborhood,
it’s families, and it’s youth.
